Life isn't always neat or predictable,
but cards and little gifts can still help
us show up for each other.
- in the big moments, for the messy moments, and everything in between.
Years ago I had a t-shirt I exercised in. The front of it said "Find a reason, not an excuse". It was all about finding the reason to exercise rather than having an excuse to back out. And when it comes to things like exercise, it worked for me.
But, when it comes to showing kindness, support, and appreciation, sometimes we need to flip that mantra on it's head. Find the excuse to do it, rather than the (surely logical) reason not to.
Who cares if it's not their birthday, or they told you they didn't need the thank you. Gifting is as much for you as it is for them.
I recently (like last week) gave my 2 besties 'birthday' gifts - even though their special days were in January and May. Why? Because I wanted to thank them for being the friend who checks in, but also because I wanted to see the look on their faces when they opened their hand illustrated gifts from Happily Real.
"Just Because" is a valid excuse in the world of gifting and showing someone that you're thinking of them.
Until next time,
Bren
