Refunds and returns

Last updated 9 August 2026

Overview

Most Happily Real products are made to order. This means we do not generally accept returns or exchanges because you changed your mind, chose the wrong size or selected the wrong colour.

This does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If a product is faulty, damaged, unsafe, not of acceptable quality, does not match its description or is not fit for a purpose you told us about, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund or other remedy.

Australian Consumer Law

Our products come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

  • If a product has a major problem, you can choose a refund or replacement. You may also choose to keep the product and seek compensation for the reduction in its value.
  • If a problem is minor and can be fixed within a reasonable time, we may choose to repair the product, replace it or provide another appropriate remedy.
  • You may also be entitled to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage caused by a failure to meet a consumer guarantee.

These rights apply for a reasonable period based on the product, its price, quality and expected use.

Damaged, faulty or incorrectly supplied products

If your order arrives damaged, has a manufacturing fault or is different from what you ordered, please contact Happily Real as soon as you can. For the fastest claim process, contact us within 10 days of delivery. The 10-day request does not limit any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

What to send us

Please complete the form below and include:

  • your name, order number and contact details
  • a short description of the problem
  • a clear photo showing the damage, fault or incorrect item
  • a photo of the packaging if it was damaged in transit, where possible

If the same issue affects several products using the same design, please also provide one photo or video showing all affected products together in the same frame.

Please keep the product until we confirm that the item needs to be returned, as we may need more information or an assessment.

Print placement and normal production variation

Our products can have small production variations. A print-placement variation of up to 0.5 inches (12.7 mm) is generally treated as within production tolerance and may not, by itself, be a manufacturing fault.

We will still assess the product fairly. A production tolerance does not remove your rights if the product is materially different from its description, is not of acceptable quality or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee.

Change of mind, size and colour choices

Because products are made specifically after you order, we do not offer change-of-mind returns or exchanges if:

  • you chose the wrong size or colour
  • you no longer want the product
  • you found a different product you prefer
  • the product was purchased as a gift and is not suitable for the recipient

Please check the product description and size guide before ordering. If we sent the wrong size, colour or product, or the item does not match its description, contact us because your consumer rights may apply.

Available remedies

The remedy will depend on the nature and seriousness of the problem. It may include a repair, free reprint, replacement, full or partial refund, or compensation where required by law.

For a major problem, you can choose between a refund and a replacement. For a minor problem, we may choose an appropriate remedy and must provide it within a reasonable time.

Approved refunds will be returned to your original payment method unless you agree to another method.

Returns and postage costs

Please contact us before sending anything back. We will tell you whether a return is needed and provide the correct instructions. Do not send products directly to the address shown on the parcel without our approval.

You do not need the original packaging to seek a remedy for a faulty product. We may ask for reasonable proof of purchase, such as your order confirmation, receipt or payment record.

If we confirm that a product has a fault, we will reimburse reasonable return postage costs you have paid where required by the Australian Consumer Law. Please keep your postage receipt. If a product is large, heavy or difficult to return and the law requires us to do so, we will arrange collection or cover the reasonable return cost.

Unsuccessful delivery

If an order is not delivered, contact us so we can check what happened and work with the delivery provider.

If delivery failed because the address supplied at checkout was incomplete or incorrect, or the parcel was not collected after reasonable delivery attempts, we may offer either:

  • a reprint and redelivery for an additional charge, or
  • a partial refund after deducting costs that cannot reasonably be recovered.

If the delivery problem was caused by Happily Real, or agents of Happily Real, we will provide an appropriate solution. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Gifts and sale items

Sale items have the same consumer guarantee protection as full-price items. Gift recipients may contact us about a problem, but we may need the order number or other proof of purchase. Unless agreed otherwise, any refund will usually be returned to the original purchaser’s payment method.

Refund timing

We will let you know when a refund has been approved and processed. Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to show the funds in your account.

If an approved refund has not appeared after the processing period advised by your bank or payment provider, contact us at contact@happilyreal.com with your order number.
